As I was driving through the Western Washington countryside, I saw this old barn next to the road. So, I found a safe place to park, grabbed my camera and walked closer to investigate. The old barn had long since been abandoned and was slowly falling apart. I noticed the bright yellow coloring on the wood close to the door and in a few other places, and at first thought it might be old paint. But I looked more carefully and realized that the yellow had to be some kind of mold or mildew or fungus on the decaying wood. There were many other colors visible on the outside walls, and the overall character of the old building fascinated me. This is one of the images that resulted.
Light fascinates me. It changes constantly, and never stops creating new versions of even familiar objects and scenes we look at every day. It can surprise and awe me on a daily, or even minute by minute basis, and make me want to stop and watch what it does. It creates a multitude of moods, and enriches the human experience in a way that most things don't. I love to capture it in images frozen by my camera. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy these images.
